Purnima Ramadorai's Page

Purnima began her career in the film industry nine years ago, where she learnt the ropes while working on various feature films and documentaries. During this time, she also started her own retail business and took on the full-time running of her company when it proved to be a success. In 2007, she decided to return to her first love – film, and spent two years completing her MA in Producing at The National Film & Television School, UK.

Purnima has a real passion for storytelling, and is particularly interested in diverse perspectives and character-led narratives. As a result, her particular strength as a producer lies in development. She is currently working on THE MAKING OF, a foreign-language film based in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon, as well as a comedy-drama about love and loss in the lives of three generations of Indian women (based on a novel by an Orange prize-nominated author). Besides this, she continues to work on smaller projects with long-term collaborators.

Purnima maintains close ties with the Indian film industry and last year, she set up Escape Films with business partner Michelle Eastwood. She is keen to work on projects that involve co-production.
