NADIA DENTON'S BIOGRAPHY
Nadia has been working in the film industry for 7 years. Between April 2003 – Jan 2010 she co-ordinated and programmed Black Filmmaker (bfm) Film Club, a monthly platform for Black World Cinema at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London).
In 2008 she directed the 10th Anniversary bfm International Film Festival (IFF). The festival launch held at the Mayor of London’s City Hall saw Spike Lee in attendance. For the first time in bfm history, the festival opened at the BFI (British Film Institute) Southbank; held a programme at the British Museum; and introduced 61% new attendees to the event.
In 2009 she directed the 11th bfm IFF the most successful bfm event ever. It saw a 112% increase in audience attendance, 51% increase of new audiences, and 72% increase in traffic to the festival website.
She has participated and partnered with other film festivals which include the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, the Africa Diaspora Film Festival, the UK Jewish Film Festival, Birds Eye View (Women’s) Film Festival, East End Film Festival, Portobello Film Festival and Images of Black Women Film Festival.
She has attended film exhibition related courses such as Developing Your Film Festival, Film Festival PR and Market Your Film Events. She has also acted as a judge for the Film London Best of Borough Shorts Awards.
Nadia Denton was born on 6th May 1979 in London. She studied Modern History at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford graduating in 2000.
